George Bell (born 5 December, 1980) was a pure-blood English wizard, the son of Charlie Bell and his wife, Mrs. Bell. He was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England. He had an older sister, Katie, who played for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
George, along with his sister, Katie, joined Dumbledore's Army in his fourth year of school, an organisation taught and led by Harry Potter. He participated in the Battle of Hogwarts and survived unscathed thanks to the spells he had gained from his D.A. lessons.
Early life (1980-1992)
was born in Chelmsford, England. He had an older sister, Katie. His father, Charlie, was always very encouraging and took them both to many Quidditch games.
Hogwarts years (1992-1999)
George received his Hogwarts letter in the summer of 1992, and was Sorted into Gryffindor House like his older sister, Katie, on 1 September, 1992. He shared a dormitory with Arthur Doge, Colin Creevey, Gregory Sampson, and Geoffrey Cresswell. He was close with Geoffrey and Arthur, as well as Colin.
His older sister played Chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, and George always admired her, even if he was a bit jealous. He would go all out for matches, painting his face red and gold, and he could always be heard cheering from the stands.
Fourth year (1995-1996)
In his fourth year at school, he joined Dumbledore's Army with Katie. Dumbledore's Army (also known as the D.A.) was a secret organisation initiated by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley to teach their fellow Hogwarts colleagues proper Defence Against the Dark Arts in 1995. It was founded by Hermione, but taught and led by Harry. This organisation was made necessary by the refusal of Dolores Umbridge, the subject's professor during the 1995-1996 school year, to teach anything in her classes other than textbook theory.
Fifth year (1996-1997)
In his fifth year, his sister was tortured by a cursed Opal Necklace and visited her at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
Sixth year (1997-1998)
When Voldemort's army attacked the castle, Georfe was among many of those who stayed to fight. He was charged with helping Seamus Finnigan blow up the Wooden Bridge to prevent Snatchers from entering the school. During the Battle of Hogwarts, George, Geoffrey Cresswell, and Luna Lovegood saved Harry, Ron, and Hermione from hundreds of Dementors by casting the Patronus to hold them back, before Harry drove them away with his own. His Patronus was in the form of a wild boar. George as well as Geoffrey and his sister, Katie Bell were also seen being lead into battle by Aberforth Dumbledore sometime during the opening stages of the battle.
Personality and traits
George was a friendly person who was very interested in Quidditch. He was also relatively kind and much like his older sister. Furthermore, he disliked those who had a pure-blood obsession. George believed that there were no differences between pure-bloods and Muggle-borns, as he became particularly angry when a classmate, Peter Goyle, called Molly Roper a "Mudblood", showing him to be very tolerant of individuals of different blood statuses.
George was also brave and determined, since he was sorted into Gryffindor house and was a member of Dumbledore's Army, in order to oppose Dolores Umbridge.
Magical abilities and skills
- Duelling: George learned how to duel at the Duelling Club in his first year. He was also taught various offensive and defensive spells later, while attending the meetings of Dumbledore's Army, under Harry Potter's masterful instruction. George, along with many other Hogwarts students fought bravely in the Battle of Hogwarts against Voldemort's army and survived, showing him to be a very skilled duellist indeed with considerable and impressive skills in martial magic.
- Charms: George was shown to be highly proficient and gifted in charm-work, as he was able to conjure a corporeal boar Patronus, which is a mark of superior magical ability and talent, given the immense difficulty of casting such an advanced and powerful protective charm.
