Ophelia Margaret Brown (born 14 March, 1981) was an English pure-blood witch who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft in 1992. She was a member of Gryffindor House and had an older sister, Lavender Brown. The daughter of Nigel Brown and Dorothea Brown (née O'Flaherty), she was born in London and was a member of the Brown family.

She was sorted into Gryffindor House on 1 September, 1992. While at school, she met FOUR great friends at Hogwarts: Aquila Black (a distant relative of her's), Maisie Cattermole, Luna Lovegood and Ginny Weasley (her third cousin) and with them formed the Wanderers. She also met Peter Goyle, a Slytherin student with whom she and her friends became bitter rivals.

Ophelia, along with her friends, became important members of Dumbledore's Army, an organisation taught and led by Harry Potter, in their fourth year of school. Ophelia, Ginny, Maisie, and Aquila would later fight in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower (1997), and the Battle of Hogwarts (1998) together. Ophelia survived both battles and joined the Department of Magical Law Enforcement as an employee and became engaged to Perseus Scamander by 2003. In that same year, she sacrificed her freedom for her friends during a rally held in Paris by The Dragon Lord by distracting him by destroying his skull-hookah with a powerful spell. The Lord of Dragons's flames then engulfed Ophelia, but the Dragon Lord spared her, wishing to enlist her into her Death Eater army and imprisoned within Nurmengard, only to escape in 2004.

Early life (1981-1992)[]

Ophelia Margaret Brown was born on 14 March, 1981, to Dorothea Brown (née O'Flaherty) and her husband, Nigel, in central London. She had an older sister, Lavender, and the sisters were about a year apart. Her father was Nigel Brown, an employee of the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Transportation and English pure-blood wizard. Her mother was Dorothea Brown (née O'Flaherty), an Irish witch.

Her paternal grandparents were Octavius Brown and Fiona Brown (née Crouch), for who she was named for. Fiona Crouch was the daughter of Casper Crouch and Charis Black, both members of ancient and respected pure-blood families. Through Magdalene, Lavender and her sister are descendants of the House of Gamp, an extinct wizarding family (in the male line, at least) famous for producing many notable descendants.

Her father had a little brother, Arthur, who was killed at the age of eighteen in the First Wizarding War. As a result, her father was very overprotective of Ophelia and her sister, and rarely allowed them to go out alone, even in muggle London. Despite this, her father spoke of Arthur a lot while she was growing up, and she was told many stories about Arthur's bravery and sacrifice.

Ophelia and her sister, Lavender, were great nieces of Augusta Longbottom (née Crouch). She sent them presents as children. That being said, she did not know her second cousin, Neville Longbottom, very well, and would never meet her paternal uncle, Barty Crouch Jr, who would be imprisoned in Azkaban shortly after she was born. On her mother's side, she had three first cousins, Nora, Kevin, and Maxine O'Flaherty, all of who lived in Ireland.

Despite her father's job at the Ministry, Ophelia's family was wealthy, and her father supposedly had an unconfirmed trust fund. Her family lived in a fairly-sized half of a terraced-house in the middle of London. She once spoke of "yearly" family holidays to places such as Australia, Brazil, Panama, and Peru, because her father was an adventurous man. She, unlike her sister and mother, was not exasperated about being dragged on Safaris. The Browns also had a house "somewhere in the country" about an hour outside of London, where they went in the summers.

Ophelia and her sister Lavender were relatively spoiled as children: lively, they had grown up in the centre of their parent's attention. They had frequent spats but had a good relationship growing up.

Hogwarts years (1992-1999)[]

Ophelia Brown received her acceptance letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at age eleven in the summer of 1992, one year after her older sister, Lavender. She purchased her equipment from Diagon Alley before the start of her first year, including her wand, which was made out of chestnut and unicorn hair, from Ollivander's.

First year (1992-1993)[]

Ophelia boarded the Hogwarts Express for her first year of school on 1 September, 1992, at King's Cross Station, London, and that night, she was one of the first students to be sorted into Gryffindor, behind Aquila Black. She shared a dormitory at the top of Gryffindor Tower, with five other girls: they were Matilda Corner, Molly Roper, Ginny Weasley, Maisie Cattermole, and Aquila Black, the latter three of which she would soon find herself sticking by, although not at once. She did not get on well with Molly, as she did the other four: Molly Roper, a muggle-born, was believed by most to be a loner and made friends with boys rather than girls. There were also personality clashes between Molly Roper and the other Gryffindor girls; Molly, being rather studious, may have been better suited with Ravenclaw girls.

Ophelia, along with her friends, Maisie Cattermole, Aquila Black, and Ginny Weasley, all joined a Duelling Club in October of 1992: but to their dismay it was run by Professor Snape and Professor Lockhart, some of the school's worst teachers. The event was scheduled to take place in the Great Hall. During the club's first meeting Lockhart demonstrated his ineptitude. He was successfully disarmed by Snape and floundered throughout the entire practice duel.

There were several incidents which occurred over the course of Ophelia's first year that she was left out of entirely. During her first year, she was incredibly lonely, though she followed Aquila and Maisie around when she could. Their other friend, Ginny, it turned out, had been writing in an enchanted diary which possessed her to open up the Chamber of Secrets, and the mystery surrounding that was taking up the entire school's time- Tom Riddle, a sentient being inside the diary, forced Ginny to write messages on the walls claiming to be the "Heir of Slytherin" who was to purge the school of all those of lesser blood.

He also forced Ginny to attack and petrify Muggle-borns: aiming to kill, he used Slytherin's Monster, a Basilisk, which slept in the Chamber of Secrets, to do his bidding. Many muggle-borns were attacked and sent to the hospital wing, their brain functions frozen, the only cure was a potion made from a Mandrake, which took several months to curate and brew successfully. As the attacks mounted, Ophelia found herself frightened every time someone new was announced to have been petrified: one time, the victim was Colin Creevey, a classmate of hers, which caused "all of [the Gryffindor first-years] to act somewhat subdued".

Though she was pure-blood herself, Ophelia feared for her own safety, and nervously told Aquila Black (when she complained) that she liked the teachers escorting them from class to class, as it made her feel safer.

One night in late May, however, the Heir of Slytherin left another message on the wall- "Her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever." Ophelia's friend Ginny, who almost everyone liked, had been taken into the Chamber of Secrets, and was presumed dead. Ophelia began "hysterically crying" and had to be comforted by her sister, Lavender, who showed "remarkable sympathy" for someone usually so silly.

The evening got worse when Ophelia realised that her friend, Aquila, had not returned from Transfiguration- and in addition, her friend Maisie was also "missing". She was immediately convinced that all of her friends had been killed by Slytherin's Monster, which might have been somewhat of an overreaction because Professor McGonagall told her that Maisie Cattermole was entirely fine and in the hospital wing because she had a bad case of the flu. Ophelia stubbornly insisted for McGonagall to search for Aquila, however, who actually turned out to be missing- along with two second year students, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.

Everything was resolved when Aquila, Potter, and Weasley emerged with Ginny at the end of the night, shaken but alive, from the Chamber of Secrets, the entrance of which was supposedly on the third floor. However, Ophelia had likely feared for Aquila and Ginny's lives and begged McGonagall to do something, when she couldn't find Aquila in the first place, displaying great loyalty, as well as bravery, at a relatively young age.

Second year (1993-1994)[]

Over the summer, Ophelia's sister reportedly asked their mother for a pet. Dorothea Brown bought her daughters a pair of baby male rabbits; one was named Binky, by Lavender, and Ophelia named hers Barney. They left the bunnies at home when they left for their next year of school, however.

On 1 September, 1993, Ophelia boarded the Hogwarts Express at King's Cross in anticipation of the start of her second year at school. She reportedly had not done well in her first year exams, as she moaned about how her mother thought that she "knew less about Transfiguration" than she did to start with at the beginning of her first year.

She sat with her friends, Aquila, Maisie, and Ginny, on the train to school, until the train stopped because of the Dementors, and Ginny left to go see what was going on. Ginny ended up finding her brother, Ron, in another compartment, with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, when the Dementors entered the Hogwarts Express. They were searching for Sirius Black, a high-security prisoner who had recently broken out of Azkaban. Black was the estranged older brother of Ophelia's friend Aquila, and Ophelia learned about this for the first time when Aquila told everyone only a few hours before.

When the Dementors entered their compartment, Aquila fainted, and Ophelia began crying. However, a large light, in the shape of a large animal, drove the Dementor away. After the end of the ordeal, Maisie Cattermole attempted to revive Aquila, but Ophelia was shaking and crying. A Hufflepuff Prefect, who had been in the compartment beside them, kindly brought her to the dining compartment, which was the largest, in order to look for her sister, Lavender Brown. With the help of Lavender, Ophelia found Ginny, who had reacted strongly to the effects of the Dementors as well. When Ophelia told Ginny that Aquila had collapsed, Ginny was already sobbing. Ginny was apparently only comforted when Maisie and Aquila found them in Harry, Ron, and Hermione's compartment, Aquila having woken up from her episode.

Later in the year, after her friend Aquila had to be carried down from the stands after she and their classmate Evander Bourdillon landed their broomsticks there during a Gryffindor-Hufflepuff Quidditch match (in which more Dementors showed up) Ophelia was seen to be slightly unnerved by the incident, after Oliver Wood and Cedric Diggory arrived on the pitch with Aquila and Evan. She showed herself to be a incredibly resilient fan of the sport and friend of Aquila, however- as she had stood in the pouring rain to watch her play.

Ophelia's sister's pet rabbit, named Binky, was mauled to death by a fox on the nineteenth of October. Barney apparently survived.

At the end of their second year, Ophelia, who was the only one of their group who hadn't figured out that Maisie was a werewolf yet, had to be told, after Maisie woke up. Ophelia was frightened, at first, responding with a whispered "What?" but afterwards she was accepting, and brazenly told Maisie that she'd met a werewolf before, in the Amazon Rainforest, and he was a tour guide who took them on a boat cruise, which was "relatively safe." Ophelia had only thought that he might have been a werewolf, however, which ruined the moment slightly. She was also put out by the fact that Aquila had known since their first year.

Ophelia did better on her exams for her second year, apparently and during the holidays, after some thought and a long talk with her grandmother, realised that by trying to be everyone's perfect child, she was holding herself back.

Third Year and Triwizard Tournament[]

Lavender, Ophelia and their parents all attended the Quidditch World Cup, camping out on the night before the Cup took place. She also was tent neighbors with Maisie, who's family was also attending and both of them hailed Ginny and Aquila when they saw them on the morning of the cup. Ophelia was noted to be much more cheerful by Harry, who stated how the young Brown "looked as though s great weight had been lifted from her shoulders" as she laughed and chatted with her friends

Fourth year[]

Ophelia and her friends behold the newest Educational Decree

"First came Neville with Dean and Lavender, who were closely followed by Alice Tolipan, Parvati and Padma Patil with (Harry's stomach did a back-flip) Cho and one of her usually-giggling girlfriends, then (on her own and looking so dreamy she might have walked in by accident) Luna Lovegood; then Katie Bell, Heidi Macavoy, Alicia Spinnet and Angelina Johnson, Colin and Dennis Creevey, Nigel Worpel, Alice Hargrave, Bem, Ernie Macmillan, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Hannah Abbott, a Hufflepuff girl with a long plait down her back whose name Harry did not know; three Ravenclaw boys he was pretty sure were called Anthony Goldstein, Michael Corner and Terry Boot then Ginny, accompanied by Ophelia, Aquila and Maisie, followed by a tall skinny blond boy with an upturned nose whom Harry recognized vaguely as being a member of the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team, Ulf, with his two friends, Arnold and Leonard, Arthur Doge, and, bringing up the rear, Fred and George Weasley with their friend Lee Jordan, all three of whom were carrying large paper bags crammed with Zonko's merchandise"

Ophelia during Snape's reign

Sixth Year and Battle of Hogwarts[]

Despite the Death Eaters now controlling the Ministry of Magic, Ophelia and Lavender, protected by there Pure-Blood status, returned to Hogwarts, which was now under the rule of Severus Snape. Ophelia was present on the Hogwarts Express on 1 September 1997, sitting next to Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, Ginny, Aquila and Maisie in a train compartment when it was raided by three Death Eaters in search of Harry Potter and glared at the Dark wizards when Neville told them Harry was not present. Once at school, Ophelia joined up with Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood to restart the D.A. and defy Snape's regime. They openly defied authority and snuck out at night painting graffiti on the walls of the corridors — "Dumbledore's Army, still recruiting". On one occasion, they attempted to steal Godric Gryffindor's Sword from Snape's office because they had knowledge that Harry needed it, but were caught and punished. Ophelia served detention with Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest and was banned from all trips to Hogsmeade.

Ophelia fought for Harry Potter during the Battle of Hogwarts, where she used her animagus powers to swiftly take down enemies from behind and showed her exceptional dueling skills. During the flames of the battle, Ophelia's sister was injured by Fenrir Greyback, Ophelia was frantic and sobbed with relief after she was informed by Madam Pomfrey that her sister would survive. She was later among the crowds of defenders who spilled out of Hogwarts to see Harry's dead body for themselves and aided in holding a screaming Ginny back. After the Battle restarted, Ophelia fought Selwyn, who kicked her in the stomach, sending her sprawling back. However, as he advanced on her, preparing to administer the fatal strike, only for Ophelia to transform into her animagus form, taking him by surprise and causing him to falter, allowing her to pounce, pining him to the ground. Ophelia survived the battle and witnessed Harry take down Lord Voldemort, ending the war.

Personality and Traits[]

In her first year of school, Ophelia was uncontested as perhaps one of the "stupidest girls in Gryffindor tower." From the start, she also had a whining problem, and this was especially evident when something inconvenienced her: such as getting a detention from Professor McGonagall, even if she actually deserved it along with everybody else. She could also be prone to jealousy, but the real truth was, that while her friends (Aquila, Ginny, and Maisie) begrudgingly included her in their group from the very beginning- in the early years, she was often ignored when they didn’t need her for a particular joke, and many times she was used as their lookout. Inevitably, much like her sister, Ophelia's heart was always in the right place, but she had a tendency to offend or annoy other people, if not always deliberately.

However, Ophelia soon proved herself as both a formidable witch and a clever young woman- it took her considerably longer than her fellow yearmates, not because she was unintelligent, but because she had less faith in her own skill, but in the end, she ended up passing her O.W.L.s with "very high marks" and her mother bought her the Weird Sisters concert tickets that she had been wanting because of it. She also learned how to be an Animagus by the age of fifteen, which only a few witches and wizards in Northern Europe have achieved before (at least, those of who were registered). She took the form of a panther, while her friend, Ginny, learned how to transform into a grey mare. Their friend Aquila took the form of a black dog. Ophelia only learned how to do this, however, after three years of incredibly hard work, which her friends didn't have to go through as much as her (although not by much), which was something she was quite bitter about. In the end, though, it was all to support their friend Maisie, who was a werewolf.

Ophelia was a girl that was quite concerned with material wealth and objects that some would call frivolous. This lessened as she grew older, once the Second Wizarding War was in full swing, but she would often act bashful and pretended that none of it was a big deal, even though she almost secretly wanted her friends to be jealous. She once tried to one-up Aquila after Aquila said that she had been to Brazil, but only once- Aquila hadn't really minded at the time, but she wished that Ophelia would stop trying to compete with everybody else and be her own person.

Ophelia eventually realized that it was better to be herself than someone another wants to be and became a far freer individual. With this in mind, Ophelia becomes a happier person, no longer constrained by expectations and, of course, perfection, and free to experiment with her powers and express herself.

After beginning to act like herself, Ophelia was noted for being both extremely intellectual curious and very hard-working, coming out on top in most of her classes and continuously aiding the Wanderers in their adventures. Because of her efficiency and compassion, Ophelia often had time to do hobby work on the side. Such acts demonstrated her social conscience and tenacity. Unlike most wizards who depended solely on their magical ability, Ophelia readily relied on logic, which often helped her to cleverly deduce information that many others missed. Ophelia also proves that she is notably creative and strong in geometry, being able to quickly deduce the value of angles and fractals'; an advanced geometry concept for the time period. Ophelia was extremely studious and also enjoyed reading in her spare time, liking to read during her spare time on a rainy day and enjoying magical animal guides, fictional worlds and the occasional romance novel especially, being a great fan of Newton Scamander. Ophelia deeply loved her fiancé, Perseus, and her best friends, stating Aquila never met a monster she couldn't love, referring to herself.

Aquila Black: You didn't mean to do it, Ophelia. You tried to save her. It wasn't your fault.
Ophelia Brown: Oh, Aquila. You and the others never met a monster you couldn't love.
- Ophelia referring to how her friends had befriended her

Ophelia in her second year

The death of her family's previous house-elf, Wonky, who Ophelia had tried and failed to save in a sea storm from drowning, unable to keep a firm grip of the elderly elf's wet hand and causing her to plummet into the ocean and drown, scarred Ophelia for life. The unintentional role she had played in her house-elf's death left her with feelings of incredible guilt and self-loathing (to the point that her Boggart was Wonky's drowning). Ophelia regarded herself as not only guilty of killing her elf (rather than the unforeseen accident it was despite Ophelia's best efforts to save her), but as evil and a monster. Ophelia previously felt additional guilt over nearly ruining one of her best friend's education, yet despite all this, she maintained a polite and considerate personality. She also possessed a rebellious streak, but while would sometimes hex other students, she did so out of anger in the face of bullying, rather than any unprovoked malice. She was quite liked by her Defence Against the Dark Arts professor Remus Lupin, but struggled to get along with anyone at Hogwarts, except her best friends. Her rebellious streak is also shown when she continued to run after hexing a bullying Gryffindor girl, beaming as she ran across the lawn and felt the wilderness of it, ignoring McGonnagall's threatened removal of vast amounts of house points.

Ophelia was very determined and focused, in that she "always [kept] her attention focused on the job that must be done." Her refusal to break under the torture occasionally inflicted upon her by the Carrows, shows her strength of willpower. She wasn't afraid to stand up to her friends when she thought it was in their best interests, or when she felt they were wrong.

Magical Abilities and Skills[]

Ophelia Brown: "Finding me in a classroom? Was I such a bad student?"
Minerva McGonnagall: "On the contrary, you were one of my cleverest."
— Minerva McGonnagall regarding Ophelia's abilities

Having trained with Dumbledore's Army during her fourth year of school, Ophelia's magical abilities increased dramatically in the subject with the presence of the right teacher, Harry. Similarly, she was able to complete her animagus transformation at the age of fifteen, with some help from her two friends, Aquila and Ginny. She also proved herself to be a formidable witch on her own, too, possibly even outgoing her BFFs. Indeed, Mad-Eye Moody comments Ophelia had the makings of a fine Auror.

  • Magical mastery: Ophelia Brown was a very powerful and talented witch. She was recognised by Minerva McGonnagall as one of her best students, proving herself a very accomplished witch. Even at a young age, Ophelia was able to utilise magic without the use of a wand, move objects with her mind and, after second year, quickly achieved such good results in her schoolwork that she received praise from most of her teachers. After becoming more like herself, she demonstrated tremendous ability and proved a cleverer student than most of her classmates, quickly mastering and becoming one of the best in most of the fields of magic taught in Hogwarts with little effort. Ophelia proved herself capable of holding her own against several Death Eaters, easily deflecting their most powerful spells and even duelled the Dragon Lord, greatest dark wizard of 10 ages, for a time.
  • Love: Ophelia was an extremely kind and loving witch, caring deeply for her fiancé, her friends and her family, willing to do anything to protect them, which drove her to commit herself to what she did, including her fight with the Dragon Lord, which she carried on to the end, love empowering her magic. Her love for her friends and family also caused Ophelia to feel no concern for her own well-being or happiness when they were at risk, and put herself in danger many times to protect them, which, in turn, resulted in Ophelia developing an exceedingly compassionate nature
  • Intellectual genius: Ophelia was not only a great witch, but also possessed a very sharp mind, aware of to her surroundings, able to determine much of the events that transpired from it. She was extremely intelligence, as she quickly showed a natural understanding and quick capacity to learn.
  • Charms: Ophelia was always exceptionally good with charm-work, as she was capable of successfully casting the Fire-Making Spell, along with the Knockback Jinx, from an early age, showing she was skilled with the casting of such spells. In her second year at Hogwarts, she successfully cast the dark charm Oscausi on a Gryffindor girl who was speaking spitefully about her, sealing her mouth shut. She displays an impressive mastery of the Shield Charm surpassing that of many Ministry employees; her Shield Charms were so powerful that they were able to deflect curses. She performed an expansive Undetectable Extension Charm on the interior of her overcoat's pockets, creating enough space to hold many items. She could also cast other charms such as: Wand-Lighting Charm, Wand-Extinguishing Charm, Levitation Charm, Muffliato Charm, Scouring Charm, Freezing Charm, Freezing Spell, Hardening Charm, Obscuro, Mending Charm, Memory Charm, Unlocking Charm, Locking Spell, Anti-Theft Charm, Flame-Freezing Charm, Impervius Charm, Refilling Charm, Flying Charm, Protean Charm, Water-Making Spell, Eradication Spell, Smokescreen Spell, Exploding Charm, Hot-Air Charm, Slowing Charm, Obliteration Charm, Partis Temporus and Piertotum Locomotor. She was also capable of making a corporal patronus (a panther), under the tutelage of Harry Potter during Dumbledore's Army meetings, which was regarded as a very advanced piece of magic as well as a sign of superior magical ability.
  • Animagus: With help from her friends, Ophelia was able to become an Animagus at the early age of fifteen, assuming the shape of a black panther. Her form, while having somewhat of an oddly exotic flair, is relatively uncommon, and may have resonated with her in her early childhood and on holidays to South America, where the jaguar is found. The jaguar is a compact and well-muscled animal. It is the largest cat native to the Americas and the third largest in the world, exceeded in size by the tiger and the lion. Ophelia is most likely the most adept at stealth-tracking out of all of her friends. The jaguar also possesses a short and stocky limb structure which makes it adept at climbing, crawling, and swimming.
  • Care of Magical Creatures: A trait which she shared with her father, Nigel Brown, Ophelia enjoyed viewing and discussing many magical creatures, and probably saw many of them on Safaris which she has taken across Africa, South America, and across Europe. In Care of Magical Creatures class, which she began taking in her third year, Ophelia won the trust and loyalty of magical creatures- such as the Unicorns, easily, demonstrating that she has a high affinity for such animals. Ophelia gained perfect marks in her exam, identifying a Knarl among a dozen hedgehogs, handling a Bowtruckle correctly, feed and clean out a Fire Crab without sustaining burns and choosing treatment for a sick unicorn from among a wide range of food choices. She possessed an innate ability to communicate with various magical creatures, along with the understanding of them. She was also capable of using beasts such as the Hungarian Horntail to aid her in combat, and could control it to a degree, despite it being a relatively dangerous beast.
  • Duelling: Ophelia learned how to duel at the Duelling Club in her first year. She was also taught various offensive and defensive spells while attending the meetings of Dumbledore's Army, under Harry Potter's masterful instruction. Ophelia, along with many other Hogwarts students fought bravely in the Battle of Hogwarts against Voldemort's army and survived, showing her to be a very skilled duellist indeed with considerable and impressive skills in martial magic, defeating several Death Eaters at once effortlessly during the Battle of Hogwarts and survived yet again. Her skills were so great that she could even hold off Fenrir Greyback while he was in his werewolf form by some swift spellcasting. Her ability to fight both skilled duellists and dark wizards showed them to have considerable proficiency in martial magic. Indeed, she even engaged in Battle with the Dragon Lord himself, the master of Voldemort and all of the Death Eaters and greatest dark wizard in 9 centuries, being defeated and captured in the end, but not before destroying his skull hookah and buying a large amount of time. In Bhutan, she, with the help of Theseus Lavandra, fought and defeated Helmut's men despite the two of them being greatly outnumbered. During this skirmish, she was shown to be resourceful by utilising the environment around her; she bewitched garments that had been hung up to dry restraining one of the Aurors she was combating, thus putting him out of the battle, and also levitated crystal balls into the air and launched them at them, knocking several of them over.
  • Defence Against the Dark Arts: Ophelia was highly proficient in this field, given her ability to confront The Dragon Lord's acolytes alongside Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Ginny, Aquila, Yellow and Iiron for a time. She saved the group from death at the hands of The Dragon Lord's black fire and duelled the greatest dark wizard in several centuries. Remus Lupin considered Ophelia to be one of his best students in the subject, successfully completing Remus Lupin's second year exam where she waded across a deep paddling pool containing a Grindylow, crossing a series of potholes full of Red Caps and finding her way across a patch of marsh while ignoring misleading directions from a Hinkypunk. Indeed, Ophelia only had trouble repelling a Boggart due to her incredible guilt and self-loathing over the accidental role she played in the death of her house-elf. Despite this one fear, Fader noted that she possessed superb skills in defensive magic, to the point where she had no qualms about entrusting Ophelia with the task of thwarting a possible assassination attempt at the Candidates' Dinner in Berlin, and Brown had no qualms about "welcoming the challenge".
  • Transfiguration: Ophelia was an exceptional witch in Transfiguration, one of her greatest achievements of course being her successful Animagus transformation. She was also able to perform remarkably complex spells in the field and was able to perform Conjuration an advanced type of Transfiguration, she had casted the Incarcerous Spell and Cracker Jinx. She could also transform objects into other objects for example, she can cast the Avifors Spell and was also skilled enough to be able to changes her clothes. Indeed, the high-standard Minerva McGonnagall admitted she considered Ophelia one of her best students.
  • Apparition: Being an accomplished adult witch, Ophelia was able to Apparate at will, as shown when she was able to Apparate to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, along with Torquil Travers, Harry Potter, Perseus Scamander, and some other Aurors and Disapparate away from the black fire left by The Dragon Lord, while also saving Jacob Kowalski in the process. She also apparates into Jacob Kowalski's bakery in utter silence after having only been in the street moments before, not having used the door to enter. Furthermore, she could apparate herself from one place to another with pinpoint precision, even when locked in combat. She used this ability to avoid some of a Death Eater's spells during their duel before counter-attacking.
  • Divination: Ophelia had some knowledge of the subject, as she demonstrated a familiarity with The Predictions of Tycho Dodonus in a conversation with Yusuf Kama.
  • Bilingualism: Ophelia, due to her extensive travels, was able to speak a large degree of languages, including French, Portuguese, Russian, Latin, Swedish, Indian, Scandinavian, Spanish and Chinese fluently, alongside her native British.
    • Magical multilingualism: Ophelia furthermore had an uncanny expertise in mastering many foreign magical languages, as not only could she speak Mermish and Gobbledegook, but she was even among the very few able to recognise and understand Parseltongue, the language of snakes, and at least a level of ability to speak it. Indeed, she could even speak the mysterious dragon tongue of dragonese fluently.
  • Wandless and non-verbal magic: Ophelia was also capable of using spells wandlessly and non-verbally and displayed a proficiency for telekinesis: she used her hand to telekinetically sending several Death Eaters backward during the Battle of Hogwarts. She was able to create the Calming Draught, Girding Potion, Felix Felicis, Fire-Breathing Potion, Fire Protection Potion, Memory Potion, Potion of All Potential, Sleeping Draught, Wit-Sharpening Potion, Wolfsbane Potion and Antidote to Veritaserum. Despite his dislike of Gryffindors in general, even Severus Snape himself had to admit that she had an undeniable gift for potions.
  • Dark Arts: Though not a Dark Witch, Ophelia was highly proficient in the Dark Arts at all levels. On top of being able to cast curses, hexes and jinxes such as: Jelly-Legs Curse, Leg-Locker Curse, Pimple Jinx, Stickfast Hex, Tickling Hex, Hair Loss Curse, Tongue-Tying Curse, Ebublio Jinx, Knockback Jinx, Revulsion Jinx, Tempest Jinx, Oppugno Jinx, Expulso Curse, Langlock and Levicorpus, she could cast more powerful spells such as the Blasting Curse, Disintegration Curse and Shadow Pursuit Curse. Though she hated using them, she could also cast the Imperius and Cruciatus Curse to good effect, a piece of magic that needed a great deal of skill behind it. Shr never used the Killing Curse for obvious reasons, even against Death Eaters.
  • History of Magic: Ophelia was highly knowledgeable in magical history and lore, with particular specialisation in the portions of it that pertained to powerful magical artefacts, such as the Philosopher's stone, Deathly Hallows and Wandlore.
  • Metamorphmagus: Unlike most other wizards and witches, Ophelia possessed the ability to change her physical appearance at will, without the need for a potion or a spell to assist. With simply a thought, she was capable of changing her facial features, nose shape, the colour of her hair and eyes, or even her entire form.
  • Herbology: Ophelia earned an 'Exceeds Expectations' O.W.L., showing aptitude in the subject. She was knowledgeable in various types of magical plants, such as Mallowsweet, Devil's Snare, Gillyweed, Venomous Tentacula and Fanged Geranium from hands on experience. She could also cast plant-related spells such as the Fire-Making Spell, Bluebell Flames, Severing Charm and Herbivicus Charm.
  • Healing Magic: Ophelia had an immense understanding of healing charms, being proficient with the casting of Episkey, Anapneo and the Bandaging Charm. She was also able to heal the scar on the back of Ginny Weasley's right hand wandlessly and nonverbally, by simply touching her right hand, which should have being impossible due to the fact the scar was created by dark magic. Indeed, Ophelia's mastery and knowledge was so great that with her wand, she was capable of healing the scar on the right arm of Hermione Granger. Ophelia's healing magic was so powerful that she could also delve further, sensing mental and psychological issues and instinctively knowing what to say to help them, which was a combination of Healing Magic and Legilimency.
  • Occlumency and Legilimency: Ophelia was incredibly accomplished in both Occlumency and Legilimency. She was capable of using Legilimency without needing to use her wand or speak the incantation. She could relatively easily look deep down into the story of someone, if she really wanted to. Her skill in Occlumency was so great that she was able to fully conceal her thoughts from the exceptionally talented Legilimens Severus Snape, Fader Magicar and Queenie Nightingale. She also was capable of using a convincing form of Occlumency that would made a Legilimens attempting to read her mind see faux thoughts.
  • Astronomy: Ophelia was skilled in Astronomy, as she was able to study it further at N.E.W.T.-level, thus showing aptitude in the subject.
  • Elemental Magic Mastery: Ophelia was extremely accomplished with the manipulation of the elements. She could unleash a green fiery blast that incinerated a temporary barrier in an instant and generated shockwaves of red lightning that quickly knocked down a Death Eater. She was even capable of causing a wave of disturbance in the earth, upturning the ground in a street near a temple somewhere in Bhutan and throwing Helmut and his band of Dragon Lord disciples off balance in Bhutan, allowing her to direct a shower of Stunning Spells.
  • Physical aptitude: Ophelia was in excellent physical condition despite her small physique, with her strength and agility easily overwhelming a Death Eater when he attacked her violently.
  • Leadership Skills: While Ophelia never deliberately set out to be a leader to others, she occasionally took charge when the situation required it. Ophelia accepted the burden of command, acknowledging her responsibilities towards Dumbledore's Army when she became a co-leader of the D.A. in her sixth year. She did this regardless of how uncomfortable she might feel about the prospect and coordinating her efforts against the enemies, when left with no other option but to take control.
  • Indomitable willpower: Ophelia's loyalty and ambition granted her an immense willpower, with her thus managing to rise up high through the Department of Magical Law Enforcement despite once failing to fit in at Hogwarts as a student, and with her determination to not be the freak that she was perceived to be by some students. She appeared to possess an unbreakable spirit and though not above depression; she never truly gave up on any mission. Ophelia's indomitable will was exemplified by her ability to resist the Imperius Curse and Cruciatus Curse. It was also exemplified by the fact that she had never begged for mercy (even in life-and-death situations), she would fought back in defiance of herself, as well as perform non-verbal spells flawlessly. Ophelia showed her willpower time and time again, demonstrating her incorruptible spirit and morals by resisting The Dragon Lord's persuasive speech of creating world where her people were unrestricted by the laws of secrecy, then refusing the silver-tongued, honeyed tone directed instantly towards her by the dark being.
